target groups:

This course is intended for persons;

  • responsible for inspecting and checking scaffolds for safe use and for signing certificates and registers in accordance with statutory regulations.
  • responsible for inspecting Tube & Fitting scaffold and completing a report in accordance to the WAH Regulations 2005.
course requirements:

We would require candidates to have held the CISRS Basic Scaffold Inspection Card for a minimum of 2 years prior to attending the CISRS Advanced Scaffold Inspection Course.  We would only expect the advanced course to be taken by those persons who are required to inspect complex tube & fitting scaffold on a regular basis e.g. a full time Scaffold Inspector, Scaffold Supervisor, Project Engineer etc.

course aims: The overall aim is to develop in trainees an understanding of scaffold components, forms of construction and inspection procedures of basic access scaffolds and to comply with current legislation and Codes of Practice.
objectives: At the end of the course delegates should be able to: 
  • Identify and inspect tubes, boards, ladders, gin wheels, ropes & fittings correctly.
  • State the main requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, Work at Height Regulations 2005 and codes of practice relating to scaffolding.
  • Identify the construction requirements common to all scaffolds to include:-   Foundations, Scaffold framework, Platforms, handrails and toe-boards, Ladder access
  • Carry out inspections and fault identification on access scaffolds
  • Complete & maintain reports in accordance with current statutory provision.

  The successful achievement of the above training objectives will be demonstrated using the following assessment methods: 
  • Practical scaffolding inspections
  • Theory test to assess trainees comprehension of course.
equipment: You will be required to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) during the practical aspects of your course. Please bring your own hard hat, safety boots and high visibility vest
lunch & refreshment: Lunches are included within the course fee for 2 day courses, water and tea & coffee facilities are available on site for your use.
accommodation & training: Candidates are required to book and pay for their own accommodation and transport should it be required whilst attending any of our courses.  Please contact us for a list of local accommodation if you require it.
certificates: Candidates who successfully complete the CISRS Basic Scaffold Inspection course will be issued with a CISRS certificate of attendance as a record of their training.
Upon completion of a Construction Skills H&S test (in either Working at Height or Supervisory) candidates will then be eligible to apply for a CISRS Basic Scaffold Inspection Card.
training location: Due to the nature of this training course i.e. that it involves the physical inspection of live scaffold structures this course can be held only in our Scaffold Training School based on the site of our head office in Barnsley, South Yorkshire.
please note: The cost of the certificate of attendance is included in the course fee but it will be the responsibility of the candidate and not The National Access Skills Academy (NASA) to book & pay for any H&S test and apply & pay for a CISRS Basic Scaffold Inspection card.
The National Access Skills Academy (NASA) will however be able to provide advice and card application forms for your use.

H&S Tests can be booked via the Construction Skills website www.cskills.org or by telephone on Tel: 0344 994 4488.

training validity: The CISRS Basic & Advanced Scaffold Inspection cards will need to be renewed on a 5 yearly basis. The card holder will be required to undertake a CISRS Scaffold Inspection refresher course and have a current Construction Skills H&S test before cards can be renewed.
